Outline of content

Students may bring an idea of what they would like to do or design a mask from the pictures and examples at the workshop. Masks and pictures are analysed and one basic construction method taught. It is a permanent method that makes a mask that fits and is comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Surface decoration techniques of many varieties are demonstrated and used throughout the workshop.

The likely end result of a single basic course is:

knowledge of the basic method and at least the beginnings of a wearable mask

The venue
In your place or mine (south London)!! Participants should bring a basic sewing kit and know how to sew with running stitch, back stitch and hemming. You may also bring trimmings and fabrics and pictures or designs that you like.

How many people can be accommodated Up to 14

What are the health and safety considerations

No children under 12 due to general pointy things used in the room.

What is the cost?

negotiable – no free workshops undertaken due to amount of time and expertise needed on the day and in preparation. Fee plus travel and possibly overnight accommodation.

Will you have material for sale on the day?

Yes, basic materials and beads, sequins, fabrics and so on
