Genuine and reproduction outfits images and artefacts conjure up the life of ordinary people and courtiers, 1066 - 2000 and earlier. Not just the dresses, but underwear, outerwear and accessories such as shoes and umbrellas are put on display.  A few male outfits are also available.

Exhibitions with 15 - 20 outfits on dress models are sizeable but can be made smaller to suit your venue. Contemporary cartoons and paintings can also be included if required; also a quiz.  For venues with limited exhibition space, or where there is less time to set up or take down, mini exhibitions can be arranged. These have more visuals and fewer clothes. Other costume experts can be organised to curate if Frances is unavailable during exhibition opening times; there is an additional cost for this. All costume specialists can be asked to wear appropriate outfits.

At present the handling collection is rather small; some clothes and accessories may be modelled by the audience during talks. Exhibitions can be set up under temporary cover; however historic buildings are preferred as this lends the correct atmosphere for the public to savour.

The venue will be asked to provide some tables, exhibition boards, electricity and lighting, helpers to set up and take down, security, and changing space, as necessary. If the event organiser can arrange for local people to bring in appropriate items from home it adds enormously to the success of the event.

The Historic Haberdashery Stall can be set up in the same venue to enhance your event. Associated talks provide an amusing peep into the past through additional contemporary visuals and writings.

If you have an idea for a costume exhibition that is not listed here do contact Frances at Create the Mood to discuss what you have in mind.
